Detroit Build has completed two remodel projects at my residence, and their work continues to exceed expectations. From start to finish, their professionalism is unmatched. Each project is handled with the care and respect typically reserved for large-scale undertakings. Their contractors were punctual, communicative, and maintained a clean, organized workspace throughout. What sets Detroit Build apart is their commitment to treating every client with equal importance, regardless of project size. I will happily hire them again and recommend their services to anyone seeking reliable, high-quality craftsmanship.

I had a small project completed by Detroit Build, and I was incredibly impressed with their professionalism from start to finish. Even though my job was on the smaller side, they treated it with the same attention and respect you’d expect for a major project. The contractor arrived on time, communicated clearly, and kept everything clean and organized - what a gem - Tom went above and beyond. It’s rare to find a company that values every client equally, regardless of project size, but Detroit Build truly does. I would absolutely use them again and highly recommend them to anyone looking for reliable, professional workmanship.

We are really happy that we decided to hire Detroit Build. It was important to us that we hired someone with a lot of experience. Specifically we wanted someone well versed with updating older homes. We needed to totally gut the kitchen and we were worried about what hiccups we might find along the way. Garrett and his crew were very knowledgeable from the start. They knew what issues we may run into and communicated those prior to demo. You can never know 100% what you'll run into but I felt like I was in good hands with Detroit Build!

We worked primarily with Garrett & Kristy, and also had some conversations with Seabrook and Jeri along the way. Everyone was very easy to work with.

Garrett did a great job of communicating throughout the process, resolving issues and kept us on track with the agreed upon timeline. In fact, we wrapped up about 2 weeks early! He's organized, professional, and is very experienced! Everyone he brought in was respectful of our living spaces and they did a great job with cleanup!

We LOVE our new kitchen and mudroom! We recommend Detroit Build to anyone looking to remodel!

Garrett and his crew did an amazing job on our kitchen remodel. From demo to finish they took care of us at every step and did an amazing job with cleanup.

Any questions or concerns we had were quickly addressed, and they came in a month ahead of schedule.

If you're looking for a local contractor that cares about their customers, I would recommend them to anyone.

Look, our experience with this company (and Seabrook in particular) was horrible from basically start to finish. From messing up the bathroom tub size and installation to making a mess in our basement (from both a shower leak and just contractor dirt) it was not a good experience.

As much as I had said I wasn’t going to write a review, after only 2 years since our remodel, our bathroom tile and grout are falling apart. As I was mopping the floor today, chunks of my floor grout is coming out and the shower tile grout is also peeling away from the walls. I had them fix it 3 times within their 1 year work guarantee and yet it’s still not right. I’m fact, I’m not having to call a different contractor to fix the bathroom tile since DB couldn’t be bothered to do it right the 1st, 2nd or 3rd time. And after paying what we did for this bathroom, grout should not be failing after year 2 of regular use.

Look, am I happy with my kitchen and most of my bathroom now? Yes. Would I ever recommend this company to anyone? No. Are their designs for kitchens great? Sure. But don’t be like us and get sucked in with the modern design. Use someone else who knows how to get a job done right the first time.

Update November 2022:
Seabrook did come to our house and give us options but never followed through with them. We called Detroit Build several times to get more clarity about how to move forward and those calls were never returned. And as of today, our basement drywall now has wet, soft and moldy spots on it due to the leaking bathroom.

Seabrook said this is normal wear and tear, but this bathroom was “completed” in 2019. Normal wear and tear does not include missing grout, leaking into the basement and loose floor tiles less than 3 years later. Normal wear and tear is a chip in the paint because your dog ran into the door.

Look, if you’re looking for the cheap option, maybe go with Detroit Build. If you’re looking for the good option, go anywhere else. Their contract only covers their work from 1 year of completion. Read the contract and call any local permit office and you will see who this company really is run by.
